We are seeking a Field Sales Manager- Midwest Region (Ideal candidate will be located OK, AR, MO, KS, IA, NE, IL, MN, WI) who will be responsible for sales of the organization's products/services to major accounts by contacting established customers and developing new prospects.

Essential Functions:

  • Use shipment reports to determine which accounts offer the most potential for PLP sales increase.
  • Identifies new accounts in territory.
  • Determines where the buying influences are.
  • Coordinates routine and effective sales calls on the identified buying influences.
  • Coordinates PLP product field trials with both the customer and appropriate PLP resources.
  • Coordinates all product demonstrations in a given territory.
  • Assists in the management and development of Manufacturers’ Representatives.
  • Assists in the management and development of Distributors/Wholesalers.
  • Provides annual evaluations of both Manufacturers’ Representatives and Distributors.
  • Investigates new product opportunities for PLP with customers.
  • Cooperates with PLP Product Management and R&E as required to investigate market or product opportunities/issues in the market or territory.
  • Effectively monitors expenses for given territory.
  • Effectively monitors PLP product sample costs.
  • Provides a sales forecast at least annually, perhaps more often.
  • Communicates with PLP through trip reports or territory updates as required.
  • Understands how PLP products are used by its customers and the markets to which PLP sells and promotes its products.
  • Maintains a field sales office from personal residence as required.
  • Develops and implements an annual sales plan incorporating the team concept approach.


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Ideal candidate will be located in the Midwest (OK, AR, MO, KS, IA, NE, IL, MN, WI)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related field of study and/or experience.
  • 7 to 10 years of experience in retail sales, demonstrating a progression of both responsibility and sales success.
  • Ability to use a computer and applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to travel a minimum of 75% of the time
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and comply with the provisions of PLP’s vehicle allowance program.
  • Must be a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
  • Must have the ability to build and develop strategic business relationships
